The 2017 baseball season has come to a close. And, even though it was a rainy summer thanks to our Field Maintenance Crew we were able to get the majority of our games and practices in as scheduled.

As I reflect on the season I'm reminded of all the people that have stepped up to help in some way. The baseball season wouldn't be possible with out you - parents, coaches, umpires, sponsors, and Pulaski Baseball Board Members. Thank you! Your dedication to our baseball program is greatly appreciated. I'm also reminded that one thing still holds true -- it's about the kids. There's nothing more gratifying than to see a smile on the face of one of our players as they experience success on the field or build friendships with their teammates. The kids are the fundamental reason we spend countless hours trying to provide the best experience as possible.

This year we set building a program as our number one goal. With Coach Bogacz stepping in as our Head Varsity Baseball Coach the timing was perfect to construct a guide to provide a great baseball experience for children of every ability and experience level. We've taken steps towards this, but it's only the beginning. We'll review our plan in the off season with our members and coaches and tweak the guide as necessary.

Now that the offseason is here, field improvements will begin kicking off. Thanks to the money raised at our three home tournaments and the partnership with Girls Softball and the Village of Pulaski, our goals this offseason include - replacing the infield (including drain tile and irrigation) and dugouts on Prevea Field (formerly known as Diamond E), installing fencing on Diamond F, adding additional batting cages by Diamond F, and replacing the batting cages nearest to Doug McDermid Field.

Lastly, there are two changes that youth baseball organizations are considering that could impact your family for the 2018 season. The first change is to move the age determination date from April 30th to August 31st of the current year. The second is a change to the bat requirements. Additional details on the bat requirement changes can be found on the Little League or USA Baseball websites. Both topics will be discussed at our next Pulaski Baseball Board meeting in August, which you are invited to attend.

Thank you,
Nate Wotruba
Pulaski Baseball President
